Freedom Entertainment Network Movement began in 2009 in Norristown, PA at a small cafe where a soul food restaurant donated space to allow inspirational open mics and cafe’s to poets, singers, dancers, and writers. The goal was youth empowerment that allowed for a collaboration with the St. Gabriel’s Hall a Catholic reform school and residential facility for at-risk youth. As a reward to students who exhibited good behavior, students were treated to dinner and the platform for self expression and to display their talents. More Freedom Entertainment Network events were held at community centers and churches in the upper Philadelphia area to provide platforms for self expression for young blooming artists and inspire the youth in the community.
The mission to create social change through the arts was taken internationally in 2016. Soul Sunday Thailand is where culture, collaboration, and charity merge. Soul Sunday Thailand is a live concert series created to celebrate independent artists while supporting IDC Care Humanitarian Initiative that provides care packages and assistance to urban refugees and asylum seekers (URAS) in the immigration detention centers and within the local Bangkok city community. Musicians, visual artists donate their performances and art as in kind donations and the Bangkok expat and local Thai audiences come together to support a great cause the have a great time.
Freedom Entertainment Network provides artists with a professional stage to showcase their music, connect with new audiences, and expand their visibility, and promote their careers as independent artists.
Soul Sunday events extends to culinary arts by incorporating traditional Southern American Soul Food cuisine. Our Signature Soulfood Platters cooked by Soul Mama herself along with other culinary enthusiasts from refugee communities helps to add a rich layer of cultural connection. Visual artists have donated pieces for auction and donated their times for art therapy for the refugees.
Every Soul Sunday event demonstrates the power of collaboratio. Music, art, and community has the power to unite us globally. We aspire to ignite hope and create lasting impact. These events helps raise awareness and support IDC Care humanitarian initiatives while giving audiences unforgettable live music experiences. When artists use their gifts to serve others, everyone benefits.
